more about Chapman Handmade

I make things. Lots of things, but I'm best at sewing. My grandma taught me how to sew when I was little; I started sewing again two years ago to deal with her passing. I inherited her sewing machine and used that for quite awhile; lately I've been using my new Janome. I think my sewing is very influenced by her. I don't waste money or materials. I reuse materials as much as I can; I buy fabric at independent fabric stores when I need something new.
I live in Milwaukee, which I highly recommend to anyone who likes awesome cities full of awesome people. I sew whenever I can; I'm a grad student in a dual degree master's program, so I don't get to sew as much as I'd like. But hey, in one or two years, I will be a Master of History and also Library Science.

more about DaisyMaySipes

The name of the shop comes from my dog, Daisy. Or sometime Daisymay. The poor girl has so many nicknames! Daisy is my rescue dog that I got when I was living in MO. She went through a lot but found her forever home with me. She is a great pal and I'm sure she's honored to have a shop named after her. :)
Now to me. I love crafting of all kinds. In fact my craft room is just about to explode with ideas that are waiting to be attempted. But I really enjoy making the flower hair pins. I love the sunny months and the flowers that they bring. Here in Wisconsin though we have several long months of grey winter, which is when I first started wanting to make the flowers for my hair. They make me smile and remind me of the warm months when it's cold. Now I've been making enough of them that I can bring a little summer to your hair!

tn_earring.tree.with.earringsFat Cat Beads

Since I was a child, I've loved to create things. Whether it was drawing, painting, ceramics, friendship bracelets, or any number of crafts, I was drawn to it. When I discovered beads, I knew I was hooked for life. Stringing inexpensive plastic beads has turned into stringing and weaving glass beads, austrian crystals, and semi-precious stones. The projects in my mind are many, and there aren't enough hours in the day to do all that I would like to. link to more info

When I was in college, I found a job at a bead store near campus and found out how much I loved designing jewelry and just looking at all the different beads, and helping newbies make their jewelry. What better job for a bead lover! I got my degree in Retail Management (believe it or not) from UW-Madison, and worked for 7 years as an assistant store manager for Office Depot. I couldn't have found a better place to gain experience in the retail world, but office supplies didn't give me the creative freedom that I so desired. So after about 5 years of working full time and spending most of my free time making jewelry and earring trees and then selling them at craft shows on my weekends off, I decided to change directions. I went with my long time dream, with the encouragement of my supportive husband, Adam. So together we opened our store, with him taking care of the construction and technical aspects, and me handling the store operations. I love helping my customers with their requests and design challenges, and I have a great team of employees who are there to help you in every way they can.
