WIP Wednesday – Round 3

We’re heading into the third Wednesday of WIP’s.  If you want to look back and see where I started three weeks ago check out WIP Wednesday and WIP Wednesday – Round 2

Boxed In

I made a lot of progress on my Boxed in Quilt during the last week.

I started by adding on my first set of sashing.  I really want to eliminate the square shape and make it long enough to comfortably be able to snuggle under it.  If you look closely you can see that I used wider strips horizontally than I did in the vertical direction.

I used a fun busy pink floral print for the next set of sashing.  I did a thicker strip horizontally again to try to elongate the quilt.  I have plans for the borders that will also help this goal.  I’m hoping to get to the borders soon…

Still no further progress…

Block-A-Palooza Quilt

Capri, Cedi & a puzzle

I actually have some progress to share with you that I haven’t yet shown you!   Just this morning, I set my girls up in the basement with a new puzzle that had LOTS of pieces.  It actually occupied them long enough for me to get my 13th block made.  This block was created by Camp Follower Bags and Quilts

Block 13Here’s the block! Blocks 1 to 13

And here’s the layout of the 13 blocks so far.  Next block will be posted on Ryan Walsh’s blog (this week’s Guest Judge for the 5th Project QUILTING challenge) and then just two left (or one week)!  I can’t believe how quickly this whole thing has gone!

the Bloom Quilt:

Bloom Quilt - WIP

I’m still working away at my yo-yo’s.  I managed to stick to my plan of five a day.  Hopefully I can get a few more than that done a day or this is going to take forever – the picture above shows the yo yo’s I have finished laid out on the quilt top that is folded in half.

Project QUILTING – Flying Geese

I’ve actually made quite a lot of project on my challenge piece already.

Preliminary SketchI started with a sketch… fabrics are cut for the project quilting flying geese challengeThen I cut out my fabrics… Playing with the block layout for the Project QUILTING Flying Geese challengeplayed with the color scheme layout for a bit once the blocks were put together… Flying Geese - WIPMade the brown interior blocks a little extra special by adding a folded lip onto the border of each. Flying Geese - WIP

Put it all together, quilted it and even go the first step of the binding done.  I hope to finish the handwork today and then I can let it marinate in my mind a bit to see if it needs anything else….

The Secret Project

I have most of the fabric cut out for this project but haven’t had time to do much with it yet…

Check back next week to see what I finish between now and then.  If you want to participate in the Flying Geese Challenge – you have until Sunday to get your project done!
