Meet this Week’s Project QUILTING Guest Judge – Kym from FabricFascination and Kimbuktu!
One of our AMAZING sponsors for this weeks prizes (2 yards of fabric (1/2 yard cuts) from FabricFascination) is Kym from FabricFascination and Kimbuktu.
Here’s what Kym had to say about her ‘Quilting History’:
I began quilting around 1975 when my daughter was born. My first quilt was a cathedral window baby quilt for her, totally done by hand. The next one I did was a king size log cabin, made with a mix of materials, chosen more for their color than their fabric content. We did not use rotary cutters then, and all cotton collections were hard to come by, nothing like the seasonal selections we get now. We didn't have the instruction available to us that is available now either, so I taught myself through books and experimentation.
Marie Pieced, Quilted and Beaded Bag
I love the entire process of quilting. To me quilting is representative of life and relationships, especially family. We take a variety of different colors, patterns, and textures, and piece them together into a harmonious whole. Sometimes the ugly, clashing fabrics are needed to make the best quilt. I love seeing how the pieces become more and more blended during the sewing process right up until when the final quilting makes a piece infinitely more beautiful than the individual fabrics could ever be on their own.
Eclectic Garden Assortment from Jason Yenter
I know that I’ve stopped by FabricFascination on etsy and have not left empty handed – many times. Such gorgeous, rich, beautiful fabric! A great place to find the perfect piece to finish that unfinished project or if you just want to build your stash! Fantastic shipping options too!
Thanks so much Kym for your sponsorship and I can’t wait to hear what you think of the amazing challenge submissions this week – I’m hoping there will be lots!

OMG, I just read this post, after I used fabric from Kym's shop for my entry. Hope that doesn't disqualify me! :)
BTW, she has a wonderful shop, if you haven't been there yet, check it out!
Thanks so much Kim, this is really sweet.
I am very excited about being a part of this challenge, and can hardly wait to see the new entries.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being a guest judge.
